History
The Penn Club of Mumbai was founded in 2010 by a group of Penn alumni based in Mumbai
who observed that there was no umbrella organization for all Penn alumni in a region
with more than a thousand Penn alumni. The Club was launched
in January 2011 with an inaugural dinner at the Four Seasons in Mumbai. Rebcecca
Bushnell, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, was the key note speaker. Since
then we have established the Club’s standing calendar of four events, have defined
governance for the Club using best practices from other Clubs worldwide, built strong
relationships with the various schools at Penn as well as Penn’s Global Alumni Office,
and built sponsor relationships to ensure that our four main events are free for
alumni. We believe that the Club has already, in its short
existence, helped to weld together Penn’s alumni in the region, and hope to continue
this process in the years to come.
